حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنِ التَّيَمُّمِ، فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَالَ فِي كِتَابِهِ حِينَ ذَكَرَ الْوُضُوءَ: (فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إلى المَرَافِقِ)، وَقَالَ في التَّيَمُّمِ: (فَامْسَحُوا بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُمْ) وَقَالَ: (وَالسَّارِقُ وَالسَّارِقَةُ فَاقْطَعُوا أَيْدِيِهْمَا) فَكَانَتِ السُّنَّةُ في القَطْعِ الكَفَّينِ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ الوَجْهُ وَالكَفَّانِ، يَعْنِي التَّيَمُّمَ".
Yahya bin Musa told us, Saeed bin Sulaiman told us, Hushaym told us, on the authority of Muhammad bin Khaled Al-Qurashi, on the authority of Daoud bin Husayn, on the authority of Ikrimah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, that he was asked about tayammum, and he said that God said in His Book when He mentioned ablution: (So wash your faces. And your hands to the elbows), and He said in tayammum: (Then wipe your faces and your hands) and He said: (And the male and female thief, cut off Their hands) and the Sunnah was to cut off the palms, but it is the face and the palms, meaning tayammum.”
