Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26304

Abu Saeed Abdullah bin Saeed Al-Ashjaj narrated to us, Hafs bin Ghayath and Uqba bin Khalid narrated to us, they said Al-A’mash and Ibn Abi narrated to us. Abu Issa said: This hadith of Ali is a hasan and authentic hadith. And more than one of the scholars said about it. The Companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and his followers said: A man reads the Qur’an without ablution, and he does not read from the Qur’an unless he is pure. This is what Sufyan Al-Thawri, Al-Shafi’i, Ahmad and Ishaq say.
