Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26659

Abd bin Humayd and Muhammad bin Madawayh narrated to us, saying: Al-Fadl bin Dukain narrated to us, Israel narrated to us, on the authority of Thuwayr, on the authority of a man, from The people of Quba, on the authority of his father, who was one of the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. He said, “The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, commanded us to attend the Friday prayer from Quba. It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, regarding this matter, but it is not authentic. Abu Issa said: This is a hadith that we do not know except from this perspective. Nothing is authentic in this matter from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. It was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, that he said: Friday is for the one who took shelter at night to his family.” This hadith, the chain of transmission of which is weak, was narrated from the hadith of Ma’arik Ibn Abbad, on the authority of Abdullah bin Saeed Al-Maqbari. Yahya bin Saeed Al-Qattan weakened Abdullah bin Saeed Al-Maqbari in the hadith. He said, “The people of Knowing for whom the Friday prayer is obligatory. Some of them said: It is obligatory for the one who goes to his house during the night. Some of them said: It is not obligatory. Friday, except for those who hear the call. This is the view of Al-Shafi’i, Ahmad, and Ishaq.
