Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26804

Qutaibah narrated to us, Al-Layth narrated to us, on the authority of Yazid bin Abi Habib, on the authority of Saad bin Sinan, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, he said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: He said: “The transgressor in charity is like the one who withholds it.” He said, and on the authority of Ibn Omar, Umm Salamah, and Abu Hurairah. Abu Issa said a hadith. Anas is a strange hadith from this perspective. Ahmad ibn Hanbal spoke about Saad ibn Sinan. And so Al-Layth ibn Saad says on the authority of Yazid bin Abi Habib, on the authority of Saad bin Sinan, on the authority of Anas bin Malik. And Amr bin Al-Harith and Ibn Lahi’ah say, on the authority of Yazid bin Abi Habib from Sinan Ibn Saad, on the authority of Anas. He said, “And I heard Muhammad say, and the correct one is Sinan Ibn Saad.” And his saying, “The transgressor in charity is the same as the one who withholds it.” He says that the sin is imposed on the transgressor as well as on the one who prevents it when he is prevented.
