Hadith #26928
Hanad narrated to us, Waki’ narrated to us, on the authority of Mas’ar, and Sufyan, on the authority of Habib bin Abi Thabit, on the authority of Abu Abbas, on the authority of Abdullah bin Amr, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “The best fast is that of my brother Dawud. He used to fast one day, break his fast one day, and would not flee when he met someone.” He said Abu Issa, this is a good and authentic hadith. Abu al-Abbas is the blind Meccan poet, and his name is Al-Sa’ib ibn Farukh. Some of the people of Knowledge: The best fast is to fast one day and break your fast the next. It is said that this is the most severe of fasting.
