Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29215

Ahmad bin Mani’ told us, Yazid bin Harun told us, Ismail bin Abi Khaled told us, on the authority of Qais bin Abi Hazim, on the authority of Abu Bakr. Al-Siddiq, that he said, O people, you are reading this verse: (O you who have believed, you have yourselves over yourselves. He will go astray if you are guided.) And I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying, “When people see an oppressor and do not take him by his hands, it is about to happen.” May God bless them with a punishment from Him.” Abu Issa said: This is a hasan and authentic hadith. More than one person narrated it on the authority of Ismail bin Abi Khaled, like this hadith, is traced back to the Prophet, and some of them narrated it on the authority of Ismail, on the authority of Qays, on the authority of Abu Bakr, but they did not transmit it as a chain of transmission.
