Hadith #27521
Qutaibah narrated to us, Al-Layth narrated to us, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, on the authority of Urwa, that he narrated to him that Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr narrated to him that a man from The Ansar disputed with Al-Zubayr in the presence of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, over the trees of the free land with which they irrigate the palm trees. The Ansari said, “Let him go.” The water passed, but he refused to do so, so they disputed with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to Zubair, “Water, O Zubair, then send the water.” “To your neighbor.” Then the Ansari got angry and said, “O Messenger of God, if he was your cousin.” Then the face of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, changed color. God bless him and grant him peace. Then he said, “O Zubair, water, then withhold the water until it returns to the walls.” Then Zubair said, By God, I think this was revealed. The verse in that matter is: (But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge in what is disputed between them.) Abu Issa said this is a good and authentic hadith. Shuaib bin Abi Hamza narrated on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Urwa bin Al-Zubayr, on the authority of Al-Zubayr, but he did not mention it on the authority of Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr. It was narrated by Abdullah bin Wahb on the authority of Al-Layth and Yunus on the authority of Al-Zuhri on the authority of Urwa on the authority of Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr, similar to the first hadith.
