حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَشْقَرُ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَهَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحٌ الْمُرِّيُّ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ إِذَا كَانَ أُمَرَاؤُكُمْ خِيَارَكُمْ وَأَغْنِيَاؤُكُمْ سُمَحَاءَكُمْ وَأُمُورُكُمْ شُورَى بَيْنَكُمْ فَظَهْرُ الأَرْضِ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ مِنْ بَطْنِهَا وَإِذَا كَانَ أُمَرَاؤُكُمْ شِرَارَكُمْ وَأَغْنِيَاؤُكُمْ بُخَلاَءَكُمْ وَأُمُورُكُمْ إِلَى نِسَائِكُمْ فَبَطْنُ الأَرْضِ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ مِنْ ظَهْرِهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ صَالِحٍ الْمُرِّيِّ ‏.‏ وَصَالِحٌ الْمُرِّيُّ فِي حَدِيثِهِ غَرَائِبُ يَنْفَرِدُ بِهَا لاَ يُتَابَعُ عَلَيْهَا وَهُوَ رَجُلٌ صَالِحٌ ‏.‏

Ahmad bin Saeed Al-Ashqar narrated to us, Yunus bin Muhammad and Hashim bin Al-Qasim narrated to us, they said, Saleh Al-Marri narrated to us, on the authority of Saeed Al-Jariri, on the authority of Abu Uthman al-Nahdi, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “If your rulers are your choice... And your richest people are tolerant, and your affairs are by consultation among yourselves. The surface of the earth is better for you than its belly, and if your leaders are the worst of you. And the richest of you are miserly, and your affairs go to your wives, so the interior of the earth is better for you than its surface.” Abu Issa said this hadith. A stranger we do not know Except from the hadith of Salih Al-Marri. And Salih Al-Marri has strange things in his hadith that are unique to him and will not be followed up on, and he is a righteous man.
