Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29857

Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman told us, he said, Abdullah bin Jafar Al-Raqi told us, he said, Ubaid Allah bin Amr told us, on the authority of Zaid, he Ibn Abi Unaysa, on the authority of Abi Ishaq, on the authority of Abi Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, said: When Uthman was besieged, he supervised them above his house. Then he said, “I remind you of God. Do you know that when Hira’ rose up, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Stay firm, Hira’, for there is no one against you except a prophet or A friend or a martyr.” They said, “Yes.” He said, “I remind you of God. Do you know that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said in the army of Hardship means “one who spends an acceptable amount.” And the people are hard-pressed and in difficulty. So I prepared that army. They said, “Yes.” Then he said, “I will remind you.” By God, do you know that no one drank from the Well of Rumah except for a price? So I bought it and gave it to the rich and the poor. And the wayfarers said, “Oh God, yes,” and a number of things he enumerated. This is a hasan, authentic, and strange hadith from this perspective, from the hadith of Abu Abd al-Rahman. Al-Sulami on the authority of Uthman.
