Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28466

Hanad told us, Yahya bin Mu’in told us, Hisham bin Yusuf told us, Abdullah bin Buhair told me that he heard well, Mawla Othman said: Whenever Othman stood on a grave, he would cry until his beard was wet, and it was said to him: Remember Paradise and Hell, so do not cry and cry because of this. He said that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “The grave is the first stage of the Hereafter, so if he is saved from it, then what comes after it is easier than it, and if he does not escape from it, then what comes after it.” “After him, it will be more severe than it.” He said, “The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘I have never seen a sight except that the grave was more terrible than it.’” He said: This is a good and strange hadith. We do not know it except from the hadith of Hisham bin Yusuf.
