Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28822

Muhammad bin Bashar narrated to us, Abdul Rahman bin Mahdi narrated to us, Muawiyah bin Salih narrated to us, on the authority of Al-Hasan bin Jabir Al-Lakhmi, on the authority of Al-Miqdam bin Maadikarib said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Is it possible that a man to whom the hadith on my authority will reach him while he is leaning on His couch, and He says, “Between us and you is the Book of God, so whatever we find lawful in it we make lawful, and whatever we find in it unlawful we make unlawful, and whatever the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, as God has forbidden.” Abu Issa said: This is a good and strange hadith from this perspective.
