Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29185

Qutaibah narrated to us, Al-Layth bin Saad narrated to us, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, on the authority of Urwa bin Al-Zubayr, that he narrated to him that Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr He told him that a man from the Ansar had quarreled with Al-Zubayr over the groves with which they used to irrigate the palm trees. The Ansari said, “Release the water.” He passed by, but he refused, so they disputed with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to Zubair, “Irrigate, O Zubair, and send the water to your neighbor.” Al-Ansari got angry and said, “O Messenger of God, if he was your cousin.” Then the face of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, changed. Then he said, “O Zubair, water and hold back the water until it returns to the walls.” Al-Zubair said, By God, I think this verse was revealed in That is: (But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge in what is disputed between them) the verse. Abu Issa said: I heard Muhammad say, he narrated Ibn Wahb this hadith on the authority of Al-Layth bin Saad and Yunus on the authority of Al-Zuhri on the authority of Urwa on the authority of Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr similar to this hadith Shuaib bin Abi Hamza narrated on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Urwa, on the authority of Al-Zubayr, but he did not mention it on the authority of Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr.
