Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29186

Muhammad bin Bashar narrated to us, Muhammad bin Ja’far narrated to us, Shu’bah narrated to us, on the authority of Adi bin Thabit, he said, I heard Abdullah bin Yazid, narrating On the authority of Zaid bin Thabit, he said in this verse: (What do you have among the hypocrites, two groups?) He said: Some of the companions of the Messenger of God returned May God’s prayers and peace be upon him on the day of Uhud. The people were divided into two groups, one group saying, “Kill them.” And another group was saying, “No.” Then this verse was revealed: (( So what do you have regarding the hypocrites as two groups?) And he said, “It is good, and He said that it removes the evil just as fire removes the impurity from iron.” Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith, and Abdullah bin Yazid is Al-Ansari Al-Khattimi and he has companions.
