Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29316

Abdul bin Humaid told us, Ali bin Ubaid told us, Omar bin Dhar told us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Saeed bin Jubayr, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to Gabriel, “What prevents you from visiting us more often than you visit us?” He said, and this verse was revealed: (And what We descend only by the command of your Lord. To Him belongs what is before us and what is behind us) until the end of the verse. He said: This is a good and strange hadith. Al-Hussein narrated to us. Ibn Harith, Waki’ told us, on the authority of Omar Ibn Dhar, and something similar.
