Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29873

Sufyan bin Waki’ told us, he said, my father told us, on the authority of Sharik, on the authority of Mansour, on the authority of Rab’i bin Harash, he said, Ali bin Abi Talib told us, By Al-Rahba, he said, when it was the day of Hudaybiyyah, some of the polytheists came out to us, including Suhail bin Amr and some of the leaders of the polytheists. They said, “O Messenger of God, some of our sons, brothers, and slaves have come out to you, and they have no understanding of religion. Rather, they left to flee from Our wealth and our possessions, then return them to us. “And if they have no understanding of religion, we will make them pay for it.” Then the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said. And he greeted, “O people of Quraysh, you must desist, or God will send against you someone who will strike your necks with the sword because of religion. God has tested his heart over faith.” They said, “Who is he, O Messenger of God?” Abu Bakr said to him, “Who is he, O Messenger of God?” Omar said, “Who is he, O Messenger of God?” “He is the one who stitches the sandals.” He had given Ali his sandal to mend it. Then Ali turned to us and said that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Who He lied about me intentionally, so let him take his seat in the Fire.” Abu Issa said, “This is a good, authentic, and strange hadith that we only know.” From this perspective, from the hadith of Rabi’i on the authority of Ali. And I heard Al-Jaroud saying: I heard Waki’ saying: Rabi’i ibn Harash did not lie about Islam is a lie. And Muhammad bin Ismail told me on the authority of Abdullah bin Abi Al-Aswad. He said: I heard Abdul Rahman bin Mahdi say Mansour bin Al-Mu'tamir strengthened the people of Kufa.
