حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي، : بُرَيْدَةَ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَخْطُبُنَا إِذْ جَاءَ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْهِمَا قَمِيصَانِ أَحْمَرَانِ يَمْشِيَانِ وَيَعْثُرَانِ فَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنَ الْمِنْبَرِ فَحَمَلَهُمَا وَوَضَعَهُمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ " صَدَقَ اللَّهُ : ( إنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلاَدُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ ) نَظَرْتُ إِلَى هَذَيْنِ الصَّبِيَّيْنِ يَمْشِيَانِ وَيَعْثُرَانِ فَلَمْ أَصْبِرْ حَتَّى قَطَعْتُ حَدِيثِي وَرَفَعْتُهُمَا " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ إِنَّمَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ .
Al-Hussein bin Harith told us, he said, Ali bin Hussein bin Waqid told us, he said my father told me, he said Abdullah bin Buraidah told me, he said I heard my father: Buraydah saying: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was giving us a sermon when Al-Hasan and Al-Hussein, peace be upon them, came. Two red shirts walking and stumbling. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, came down from the pulpit, carried them and placed them in his hands, then said, “God has spoken the truth: (Your wealth and your children are a test.) I looked at these two boys walking and stumbling, so I could not be patient. Until I stopped my hadith and removed them.” Abu Issa said, “This is a good and strange hadith. We only know it from the hadith of Al-Hussein bin Waqid.”
