Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28483

Muhammad bin Ismail narrated to us, Abu Nu’aym narrated to us, Ubadah bin Muslim narrated to us, Yunus bin Khabab narrated to us, on the authority of Sa’id al-Tai Abi Al-Bakhtari, that he said, Abu Kabsha Al-Anmari told me, that he heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, say, “Three, I swear And I will narrate to you a hadith, so memorize it.” He said, “No servant’s wealth is diminished by charity, nor has a servant done wrong but is patient in it except May God increase his glory, and no servant opens the door of a question except that God opens for him the door of poverty or a similar word. I will narrate to you a hadith, so memorize it. He said, “The world is for four people: a servant whom God has bestowed with wealth and knowledge, and in it he fears his Lord, maintains his ties of kinship, and acknowledges God’s knowledge in it.” Truly, this is one of the best of stations, and a servant whom God has bestowed knowledge upon, but has not bestowed upon him money, so he has sincere intentions. He says, “If only I had money.” I would have done the work of so-and-so, and it is his intention, so their reward is the same. As for a servant whom God has provided with wealth but not knowledge, he rummages through his wealth unjustly. Knowledge in which he does not fear his Lord and does not maintain his ties of kinship and does not know that God has any right to it. This is the most vile of stations and a servant whom God has not provided. Neither wealth nor knowledge. He says, ‘If I had the wealth, I would do the work of so-and-so on it. He is his daughter, but their burden is the same.’” Abu Issa said. This is a good and authentic hadith
