Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #52218

On the authority of Jabir, he said: My father died with a debt on him, so I proposed to his creditors that they take the dates for what he owed, but they refused, so I came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said: You know. My father was martyred on the day of Uhud and left behind a large debt, and I would love for the debtors to see you. So he said to me: “Go.” So he scattered every date in one direction, so I did so. Then I called him, and when they looked at him, it was as if they had been deceived by me at that hour. When he saw what they were doing, he went around He went to a threshing floor three times, then he sat on it and said: “Call your companions for me.” He continued to measure to them until God fulfilled their duty. My father has entrusted him, and I accept that God fulfills my father’s trust, and I will not return to my sisters with a date. God has spared all the threshing floors, and I even look at the threshing floor that was The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, as if not a single date was missing.
