Sunan ad-Darimi — Hadith #53807

Musa bin Khalid told us, on the authority of Al-Haqal bin Ziyad, on the authority of Al-Awza’i, who said: I asked Al-Zuhri about a man who divorced his wife when she was young. She menstruates, but her period stopped when he divorced her, so she did not see any blood. How long should she wait? He said: “Three months.” He said: I asked Al-Zuhri about a man who divorced her. His wife had two menstrual cycles, then her menstruation stopped. How long had she waited? He said: “I counted it as one year.” He said: I asked Al-Zuhri about a man who divorced His wife is menstruating, she stays for three months, then she has one menstrual period, then her period is delayed, then she stays for seven months. And the eight, then another woman will menstruate, rushing to it once and delaying it another time. How should she observe the waiting period? He said: “If her menstrual period differs from that of her peers.” So her waiting period was one year. I said: What if he was divorced and she menstruated once every year? How long should she wait? He said: If she was menstruating like her. “It is known that she is her peers, so we believe that her peers should observe the waiting period.”
