Jami at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29406

Ibn Abi Umar narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, on the authority of Mansour, on the authority of Mujahid, on the authority of Abu Muammar, on the authority of Ibn Masoud, he said: Dispute at the house Three people, two Qurayshites and a Thaqafi, or two Thaqafis and a Qurayshite, a little. Their hearts had a great deal of wisdom and the fat on their bellies. One of them said, “Do you think that God hears what we say. The other said, “He hears when we speak loudly, but He does not hear when we speak.” The other said, “If He hears when we speak loudly, then He does.” He hears when we conceal. Then God revealed: (And you were not concealing yourself lest your hearing, nor your eyes, nor your skins should bear witness against you.) Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith.
