Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26215

Muhammad bin Bashar narrated to us, Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi narrated to us, Kharijah bin Musab narrated to us, on the authority of Yunus bin Ubaid, on the authority of Al-Hasan, on the authority of Utti. Ibn Damrah Al-Saadi, on the authority of Ubayy Ibn Ka’b, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, who said: “Indeed, there is a devil who performs ablution, and he is called Al-Wahlan.” So beware of the whispers of water.” He said, and on the subject, on the authority of Abdullah bin Amr and Abdullah bin Mughaffal. Abu Issa said the hadith of Ubayy bin Ka'b is a strange hadith, and its chain of transmission is not strong and correct according to the people of hadith, because we do not know of anyone who has transmitted it without an external chain of transmission. This hadith was narrated through more than one authority, on the authority of Al-Hasan, and nothing is authentic in this matter on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. According to our companions, and Ibn Al-Mubarak classed it as weak.
