Hanad narrated to us, Qubaisa narrated to us, on the authority of Hammad bin Salamah, on the authority of Qatada, on the authority of Ibn Sirin, on the authority of Safiyya bint al-Harith, on the authority of Aisha, She said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “The prayer of a menstruating woman is not accepted except with a veil.” He said, and in the chapter on the authority of Abdullah bin Amr. And his saying “the menstruating woman” means an adult woman, meaning if she menstruates. Abu Issa said the hadith of Aisha is a hasan hadith. What is applied according to the scholars is that if a woman reaches the age of maturity and prays while some of her hair is uncovered, her prayer is not permissible. This is Al-Shafi’i said: It is not permissible for a woman to pray with any part of her body uncovered. Al-Shafi’i said: It has been said that if the backs of her feet are uncovered, then her prayer is Prize.
