Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26675

Muhammad bin Bashar narrated to us, Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi narrated to us, Jarir bin Hazim narrated to us, on the authority of Thabit, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, he said that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, May God bless him and grant him peace. He speaks something urgent when he comes down from the pulpit. Abu Issa said: This is a hadith that we do not know except from the hadith of Jarir ibn Hazim. He said, and I heard Muhammad saying, “And they are Jarir bin Hazim in this hadith, and the authentic one is what was narrated on the authority of Thabit, on the authority of Anas, who said the prayer was established.” Then a man took the hand of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he continued speaking to him until some of the people fell asleep. Muhammad said, “And the hadith is this.” And Jarir bin Hazim may be concerned about something, but he is truthful. Muhammad said, “And they are Jarir bin Hazim,” in an authentic hadith on the authority of Anas, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, who said: “When the prayer is established, do not get up until you see me.” Muhammad said, and it is narrated on the authority of Hammad bin Zayd that he said, “We were at Thabit Al-Bunani, so Hajjaj Al-Sawwaf narrated on the authority of Yahya bin Abi Kathir, on the authority of Abdullah bin Abi Qatada, on the authority of his father, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, who said “When the prayer is established, do not get up until you see me.” Then Jarir misunderstood and thought that Thabit had told them on the authority of Anas, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.
