Hadith #27009
Ahmad bin Mani’ told us, Ismail bin Ibrahim told us, Ibn Jurayj told us, on the authority of Abdullah bin Ubaid bin Umair, on the authority of Ibn Abu Ammar, he said: I said to Jabir bin Abdullah: The hyena is a game. He said: Yes. He said: I eat it. He said: Yes. He said: I said: The Messenger said it. God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Yes.” Abu Issa said, “This is a hasan and authentic hadith.” Ali Ibn Al-Madini said, Yahya Ibn Sa’id said, and Jarir Ibn Hazim is this hadith, so he said on the authority of Jabir, on the authority of Omar. And the hadith of Ibn Jurayj is more authentic. It is the saying of Ahmad and Ishaq, and this is to be acted upon. The hadith, according to some people of knowledge, is that if a person in the state of Ihram strikes a hyena, he will be punished.
