Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27169

Mahmoud bin Ghaylan told us, Wahb bin Jarir told us, on the authority of Shu’bah, on the authority of Yahya, the imam of the Banu Taym Allah, on the authority of Abu Majid, on the authority of Abd Allah bin Masoud said: We asked the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, about walking after a funeral, and he said: “Short of a trot, so if it is good, you hasten it.” And if it is evil, then only the people of Hell will be removed from it. The funeral will be followed, but it will not be followed, and there will be no one who precedes it.” Abu Issa said this. A hadith that is not known from the hadith of Abdullah bin Masoud except from this perspective. He said: I heard Muhammad bin Ismail weakening the hadith of my father. This is Majid. Muhammad said, Al-Humaydi said, Ibn Uyaynah said, Yahya was asked, “Who is this Abu Majid?” He said, “A bird flew in and told us.” Some of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and others, held this view and believed that walking behind her was better. And this is what he says. Sufyan Al-Thawri and Ishaq. He said that Abu Majid is an unknown man who is not known, but only two hadiths were narrated about him on the authority of Ibn Masoud. And Yahya The imam of Bani Taim Allah is trustworthy. He is nicknamed Abu Al-Harith, and he is called Yahya Al-Jaber, and he is also called Yahya Al-Mujabr, and he is a Kufi.
