Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27454

Abu Salamah narrated to us, Yahya bin Khalaf narrated to us, Abd al-Ala narrated to us, on the authority of Saeed, on the authority of Qatada, on the authority of Al-Hasan, on the authority of Samurah bin Jundub, that the Prophet May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, he said: “If one of you comes upon livestock, if its owner is there, let him ask permission, and if he gives him permission, let him milk and drink.” He does not carry, and if there is no one there, let him vote three times, and if anyone answers, let him ask his permission, and if no one answers, let him vote.
