Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28421

Qutaibah told us, Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad told us, on the authority of Al-Ala’ bin Abdul Rahman, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, May God bless him and grant him peace. He stood over some people sitting and said, “Shall I not inform you of the good of you from the evil of you?” He said, so they remained silent, and he said that three times. Then a man said, “Yes, O Messenger of God, tell us about our good from our evil.” He said, “The best of you is the one whose good is hoped for and whose evil is secure, and the worst of you is the one whose good is hoped for and whose evil is safe, and the worst of you is the one whose good is not hoped for.” “His goodness, and one cannot believe in his evil.” Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith.
