Jami at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29146

Hanad narrated to us, Abu Al-Ahwas narrated to us, on the authority of Ata’ bin Al-Sa’ib, on the authority of Murrah Al-Hamdani, on the authority of Abdullah bin Masoud, he said: The Messenger of God said: God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Satan has a slander against the son of Adam, and the angel has a slander. As for Satan’s slander, it is a promise of evil and a denial.” With the truth, and as for the word of the angel, it is a promise of goodness and a confirmation of the truth. So whoever finds that, let him know that it is from God, let him thank God, and whoever finds it The other, let him seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. Then he recited: (Satan promises you poverty and commands you to commit immorality.) “Abu Issa said: This is a hasan ghareeb hadith, and it is a hadith of Abu al-Ahwas. We do not know of it as being traced back to the Prophet except from the hadith of Abu al-Ahwas.
