Muhammad bin Bashar narrated to us, Yazid bin Harun narrated to us, Al-Awwam bin Hawshab narrated to us, on the authority of Sulayman bin Abi Sulayman, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “When God created the earth, it began to sway, and He created the mountains and placed them back upon it, and they became stable.” So the angels marveled at the strength of the mountains. They said, “O Lord, is there anything among Your creation stronger than the mountains?” He said, “Yes, iron.” They said, “O Lord, is it?” There is something among your creation stronger than iron.
