Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29526

[Muhammad bin Bashar] told us [Shaffwan bin Issa] told us [Al-Harith bin Abdul Rahman bin Abi Dabbab] told us on the authority of [Saeed bin Abi Saeed Al-Maqbari] on the authority of [Abu Hurairah] he said; The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “When God created Adam and breathed the spirit into him, he sneezed, then he thanked God and praised God with His permission, then his Lord said: May God have mercy, O Adam, go to the angels to a seated group and they greeted you. They said, ‘Peace and God’s mercy be upon you.’ Then he said: So he returned to his Lord, and he said: God: This is your greeting and your greeting among your children. God said to him while he was holding hands: Choose between the two whatever you want. God said: They are your descendants. It turned out that each one of them had his age written between his eyes. Then Adam said, O Lord, who is this your son? He wrote for forty years, and some of my age is sixty years old. God said: That is your right. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Then he was placed in Paradise as God wished, then he was sent down from it. Adam was counting his life and said: Then the Angel of Death came to him and said To him Adam: I hastened, he wrote to me a thousand years ago. The angel said; True, but you gave your son David sixty years. “Adam denied it and his descendants lied, so he forgot and his descendants forgot.” He said: From that moment he was ordered to write and bring witnesses. Abu Issa said: This is a good and strange hadith from this aspect, and they did not narrate it from one aspect on the authority of Abu Hurairah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.
