Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #30085

Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Azdi, Ahmad ibn Mani`, and more than one person narrated to us. They said: Abu Badr, Shuja` ibn al-Walid narrated to us, on the authority of Qaboos. Ibn Abi Dhabyan, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Salman, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to me, “O Salman, do not hate me lest you leave your religion.” I said: O Messenger of God, how can I hate you when God has guided us through you? He said, “You hate the Arabs and you hate me.” This is a good, strange hadith that we only know. From the hadith of Abu Badr Shuja’ bin Al-Walid. And I heard Muhammad bin Ismail say: Abu Dhabyan did not catch Salman. Salman died before Aliyah.
