Mishkatul Masabih — Hadith #39796

On the authority of a servant of Uthman, he said: A piece of meat was given to Umm Salama as a gift, and the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, liked the meat, so she said to the servant: Put it in the house, perhaps. The Prophet, peace be upon him, ate it, so she put it in the window of the house. A beggar came and stood at the door and said: Give alms, may God bless you. They said: May God bless you. So the questioner left, and the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, entered and said: “O Umm Salamah, do you have anything that I may feed him?” . She said: Yes. She said to the servant: Go and bring that meat to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. So she went and did not find anything in the hatch except a piece of meat. The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: “Then that meat came back.” Marwah because you did not give him the beggar.” Narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in Evidence of Prophethood
