Hadith #45981
On the authority of Qais bin Bishr al-Taghlabi, he said: My father - who was a companion of Abu Darda’ - told me that he said: In Damascus there was a man from the Companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, called Sahl bin Al-Hanzaliyya, and he was a solitary man who rarely sat with people. It will harm you. He said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was sent A squadron came forward, and a man of them came and sat in the council where the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was sitting. He said to a man next to him: If you had seen us when we and the enemy met, then so-and-so was carried and stabbed, so he said: Take it from me, and I am the forgiving boy. What do you think of his saying? He said: I do not see him except that his reward has been nullified. Then another heard about it and said: I do not see any harm in that. So they disputed until the Messenger of God heard it. May God bless him and grant him peace He said: “Glory be to God? There is no harm in him being rewarded and praised.” I saw that Abu Darda was pleased with that, and he started to raise his head to him and say: Did you hear that from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace? He said: Yes. He continued repeating it to the point that I said he would kneel down. He said: So he passed by us another day, so he said Al-Darda’ said to him: A word that will benefit us and will not harm you. He said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to us: He said: “The one who spends on good is like one who extends his hand in charity and does not take it away.” Then another day passed by us, and Abu Darda’ said to him: A word that will benefit us and will not harm you. He said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “What a fine man Khurraym al-Asadi ‍! Were it not for the length of his robe and the shedding of his garment!” So Khuraym reached, So he got up and took a blade and with it cut his sleeve up to his ears, and raised his garment to half a leg. Then he passed by us another day. Abu Darda said to him: A word that will benefit us and not harm you. He said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying: “You are coming to meet your brothers, so prepare your saddles and dress so that you are like a mole among the people, for God does not like obscenity or obscenity.” ((Narrated by Abu Dawud))
