Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #46157

On the authority of Abdullah bin Sarjis, may God be pleased with him, he said: Whenever the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, traveled, he would seek refuge from the misfortunes of travel, the gloom of a turning point, the houris after the world, the supplication of the oppressed, and the bad sight of family and wealth. ((Narrated by Muslim)) This is how it is in Sahih Muslim: The Houris after the world, with the letter nun, and so it was narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and Al-Nasa’i. He said. Al-Tirmidhi: He narrates: Al-Kur with Ra’, and both of them are his Face. The scholars said: The meaning of the word “nun” and “rā’” together is: returning from straightness or increase to deficiency. They said: The narration of the rā’ is taken from the word “takwir” of the turban, which is to wrap and gather it, and the narration of “nūn” is from the universe, a source that would have been a universe if it existed and was stable.
