Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #52183

On the authority of Al-Baraa bin Azib, on the authority of his father, that he said to Abu Bakr: O Abu Bakr, tell me how you did when you walked with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. He, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: We were captured for the night and from the next day until the Qa’im rose up at noon and the road was empty and no one could pass through it, so it was raised for us. A tall rock with a shadow on which the sun did not shine. So we camped there and I made a place for the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, with my own hands to sleep on. I spread a blanket over him and said, “Sleep, O Messenger of God, and I will shake off what is around you.” So he fell asleep and I went out to shake off what was around him, and behold, I am a shepherd. In the future, I said: Do your sheep have milk? He said: Yes. I said: Should you milk? He said: Yes. So he took a sheep and milked it in a lump of milk, and with me was a vessel which I carried for the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, in which he could quench his thirst, drink and perform ablution. So I came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and I hated to wake him up. So I stayed with him until he woke up, so I poured some water on the milk until it cooled underneath, and I said: Drink, O Messenger of God. So he drank until I was satisfied, then he said: “Hasn’t it come? Leaving? I said: Yes. He said: So we set out after the sun had set and followed Suraqa bin Malik. I said: We have come, O Messenger of God. He said: “No.” Be sad, for God is with us.” Then the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, called for him, and his mare hit him, hitting her belly in a patch of ground, and he said: I I see you have prayed against me, so pray for me, for God is for you, that I may respond to your request. So the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, prayed for him. He greeted him and escaped, so he did not meet anyone except that he said, “You are sufficient for what is here,” and he did not meet anyone except that he turned him back. agreed
