Sunan ad-Darimi — Hadith #53640

Muhammad bin Ishaq told us, Abdullah bin Nafi’ told me, on the authority of Al-Layth bin Saad, on the authority of Bakr bin Sawada, on the authority of Ata’ bin Yasar On the authority of Abu Saeed Al-Khudri, may God be pleased with him, he said: Two men went out on a journey, and prayer came to them, and they did not have water, so they performed tayammum on a high level. It was good, so they prayed, then they found water after the time, so one of them repeated the prayer with ablution, and the other did not repeat it, then they came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. He, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned that, so he said to the one who did not repeat: “You have followed the Sunnah and your prayer is sufficient for you.” And he said to the one who performed ablution and repeated: “You will have the reward twice.”
