Sunan ad-Darimi — Hadith #55143

Ubayd Allah ibn Musa told us, on the authority of Israel, on the authority of Simmak, that he heard Jabir ibn Samra say: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was brought with a goat. Ibn Malik is a short man in a garment with no robe over it, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, is reclining on a pillow. He went to his left and spoke to him, but I do not know what he was saying to him, and I was far from him. There were people between me and him. Then he said: “Go with him and stone him.” Then he said: “Send him back.” He also spoke to him while I was listening, but there were people between me and him, so he said: “Go with him and stone him.” Then the Prophet stood up and prayed. May God bless him and grant him peace. He gave a speech while I was listening to him, then he said: “Whenever we mobilize in the path of God, one of them leaves behind him a companion like that of a goat who gives “Is one of them a lump of milk?”
