Sunan ad-Darimi — Hadith #55573

Hajjaj bin Minhal told us, Hammam told us, on the authority of Qatada, on the authority of Anas, on the authority of Ubadah ibn al-Samit: that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, And he said: “Whoever loves meeting God, God will love meeting Him, and whoever hates meeting God, God will hate meeting him.” Aisha said or some His wives: We hate death. He said: “Not that, but when death approaches a believer he is given good tidings of God’s approval and honor. There is nothing more beloved to him than what is in front of him, so he loves Meeting God, and God loves meeting Him, and when death approaches the infidel, he is given good tidings of God’s punishment. And his punishment, there is nothing more detestable to him than what is before him. He detested meeting God, and God detested meeting him.”
