Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26630

Qutaibah narrated to us, Malik bin Anas narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Bakr bin Omar bin Abdul Rahman, on the authority of Saeed bin Yasar, he said: I was walking with Ibn Umar was on a journey, so I lagged behind him. He said, “Where have you been?” I said, “Have you performed the Witr prayer?” He said, “Do you not have a role model in the Messenger of God?” I saw the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. May God bless him and grant him peace. He said: On the authority of Ibn Abbas, Abu Issa said: The hadith of Ibn Umar is a good and authentic hadith. Some of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and others, went to this point and saw that a man should perform the Witr string on his camel. And with this he says: Al-Shafi’i, Ahmad, and Ishaq. Some of the people of knowledge said that a man should not perform the Witr on a mount, but if he wanted to perform the Witr, he should get down and perform the Witr on the ground. This is the saying of some of the people of Kufa. The last chapter of Witr.
