Muhammad Ibn Al-Muthanna told us, he said Muhammad Ibn Ja’far told us, Shu’bah told us, on the authority of Al-Hakam, on the authority of Ibn Abi Rafi’, on the authority of Abu Rafi’, may God be pleased with him. On his authority, the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, sent a man from Banu Makhzum to give charity, and he said to Abu Rafi’, “Accompany me so that you may get some of it.” He said: No, until he came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and asked him. Then he went to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and asked him, and he said, “Charity is not permissible for us, and if a loyalist “The people are from themselves.” Abu Issa said, “This is a hasan and authentic hadith.” And Abu Rafi’ is the client of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. His name is Aslam, and Ibn Abi Rafi’ is Ubayd Allah bin Abi Rafi’, the scribe of Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him.
