Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26816

Qutaibah narrated to us, Sufyan bin Uyaynah narrated to us, on the authority of Asim Al-Ahwal, on the authority of Hafsa bint Sirin, on the authority of Al-Rabab, on the authority of her uncle, Salman bin Amir. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, is reported to have said, “If one of you breaks his fast, let him break his fast with dates, for it is a blessing. If he does not find dates, he should break his fast with dates.” Water is pure. And he said, “Giving charity to the poor is charity, and it is double charity given to a relative.” He said, “And in The chapter on the authority of Zainab, the wife of Abdullah bin Masoud, Jabir, and Abu Hurairah. Abu Issa said the hadith of Salman bin Amir is a hasan hadith. Al-Rabab is the mother of Al-Riha bint Sulay’. Thus, Sufyan Al-Thawri narrated on the authority of Asim, on the authority of Hafsa bint Sirin, on the authority of Al-Rabab, on the authority of Salman bin Amer, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, is similar to this hadith. Shu’bah narrated on the authority of Asim, on the authority of Hafsa bint Sirin, on the authority of Salman bin Amer. He did not mention about the rubab. The hadith of Sufyan al-Thawri and Ibn Uyaynah is more authentic. And thus it was narrated by Ibn Aoun and Hisham bin Hassan. On the authority of Hafsa bint Sirin, on the authority of Al-Rabab, on the authority of Salman bin Amer.
