Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27141

Abdullah bin Abi Ziyad Al-Kufi and Harun bin Abdullah Al-Bazzaz Al-Baghdadi told us, saying: Sayyar told us, he is Ibn Hatim. Ja`far bin Sulaiman told us, on the authority of Thabit, on the authority of Anas, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, entered upon a young man who was dying and said, “How do you find yourself?” He said, “By God, O Messenger of God, I hope in God and I fear my sins.” The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “The two cannot come together in the heart.” “A slave is in such a place except that God gives him what he hopes for and secures him from what he fears.” Abu Issa said this is a strange hadith. He narrated Some of them consider this hadith to be narrated on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, as a mursal.
