Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27235

Abu Issa said: This is a strange hadith that we only know of. This is the view. The people of knowledge differed about this, and most of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and others were of the opinion that The man raises his hands in every takbeer at the funeral. This is the view of Ibn al-Mubarak, al-Shafi’i, Ahmad, and Ishaq. Some said The people of knowledge do not raise his hands except for the first time. This is the opinion of Al-Thawri and the people of Kufa. It was reported on the authority of Ibn Al-Mubarak that he said In the funeral prayer, he should not clasp his right hand to his left. Some people of knowledge thought that he should clasp his right hand to his left, as he does in Prayer. Abu Issa said: The most beloved to me is the qatab.
