Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29728

Ahmad bin Al-Hasan narrated to us, Sulayman bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Dimashqi narrated to us, Al-Walid bin Muslim narrated to us, Ibn Juraij narrated to us, on the authority of Ata’ Ibn Abi Rabah and Ikrimah, a client of Ibn Abbas on the authority of Ibn Abbas, that he said, “While we were with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, when Ali bin Abi Talib came to him and said, “May my father and mother be sacrificed for you. This Qur’an has slipped from my chest, and I do not find myself capable of it.” So the Messenger of God said to him. God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, “O Abu Al-Hasan, shall I not teach you words by which God will benefit you and whoever you teach them will benefit by them and confirm what “You have learned in your heart.” He said, “Yes, O Messenger of God, so teach me.” He said, “If it is Friday night, then if you are able to get up in a third of The last night, for it is a witnessed hour and supplications will be answered. My brother Jacob said to his sons: (I will ask forgiveness for you, my Lord.) He says, “Until Friday night comes, if you are not able, then stand in the middle of it. If you are not able, then stand at the beginning of it, praying four rak’ahs.” It is recited in the first rak'ah with the Fatihah of the Book and Surat Ya-Sin, and in the second rak'ah with the Fatihah of the Book and (Ham) Ad-Dukhan, and in the second rak'ah with The third rak'ah with the Fatihah of the Book and the last prostration, and in the fourth rak'ah with the Fatihah of the Book and Blessed be the Mufassal, then when you have finished reciting the Tashahhud So praise God and praise God well, and bless me and do good and all the prophets and ask forgiveness for the believers. And the believing women and your brothers who preceded you in faith, then say at the end of that, O God, have mercy on me by abandoning sins as long as You have spared me, and have mercy on me. That I should be burdened with things that do not concern me, and grant me good consideration of what pleases You with me, O God, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Possessor of Majesty. By honor and glory that cannot be sought, I ask you, O God, O Most Merciful, with your majesty and the light of your face, to make my heart oblige me to memorize your book as you taught me. And grant me that I recite it in a way that pleases You, O God, Creator of the heavens and earth, Possessor of majesty, honor, and glory. I ask you, O God, O Most Merciful, with your majesty and the light of your face, to enlighten my sight with your book, to free my tongue with it, and to give relief My heart with it, and that you open my chest with it, and that you wash my body with it, because no one can help me in the truth except you, and no one can give it to anyone except you, and there is no power There is no power except by God, the Most High, the Great, O Abu Al-Hasan. You can do that three times, or five, or seven, and you will be answered, God willing, by the One He sent me with the truth. He never made a mistake as a believer.” Abdullah bin Abbas said, “By God, Ali did not stay with me except five or seven years until he came.” Ali The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was in such a gathering and said, “O Messenger of God, I was not reciting except four verses or something like that, and when I recite them to myself, and they slip away, and today I am learning forty or so verses. And when I recite them to myself, it is as if they were a book. God is before my eyes, and I used to hear hadiths, and if I repeated them, they would slip away, and today I hear hadiths, and if I spoke them, I was not deprived of them. Literally. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to him at that time, “A believer, by the Lord of the Kaaba, O Abu Al-Hasan.” Abu Issa said. This is a good, strange hadith that we only know from the hadith of Al-Walid bin Muslim.
