Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27564

Muhammad bin Bashar narrated to us, Yahya bin Saeed narrated to us, Ibn Abi Dhib narrated to us, Saeed bin Abi Saeed Al-Maqbari narrated to me, on the authority of my father Shurayh Al-Kaabi, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “God has made Mecca sacred, but the people have not made it sacred, whoever believes in God.” And on the Last Day, they shall not shed blood therein, nor shall they uphold trees therein. But if a concessioner makes a concession, he says, “It is lawful for the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.” God made it lawful for me and did not make it lawful for people. Rather, it was made lawful for me for an hour of the day, then it is forbidden until the Day of Resurrection, then You, O people of Khuza'ah, killed this man from Hudhayl, and I am responsible for him. So whoever has someone killed after today, his family is between two choices. Either they kill or take the mind.” Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith. And the hadith of Abu Hurairah is a good and authentic hadith. And he narrated it Shayban also reported on the authority of Yahya ibn Abi Kathir like this.
