Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29736

Mahmoud bin Ghaylan narrated to us, Othman bin Omar narrated to us, Shu’bah narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Ja’far, on the authority of Amara bin Khuzaymah bin Thabit, on the authority of Othman bin Hanif said that a blind man came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said, “Call upon God to grant me health.” He said, “If you wish, I may pray.” And if you wish, you can be patient, for that is better for you.” He said, “Call him.” He said, “Then he commanded him to perform ablution, to perform his ablution well, and to say this supplication.” “O God, I ask You and I turn to You through Your Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of Mercy. I have turned to You to my Lord regarding this need of mine, so that it may be fulfilled for me.” O God, grant him his intercession on my behalf. He said, “This is a hasan, authentic, and strange hadith. We do not know it except through this route, from the hadith of Abu Ja’far, and it is not Al-Khutami and Othman bin Hunaif is the brother of Sahl bin Hunaif.
