Jami at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28635

Hunaad narrated to us, Yunus bin Bukayr narrated to us, Omar bin Dharr narrated to me, Mujahid narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, he said: The people of Suffah were guests. The people of Islam do not support family or property. By God, there is no god but Him. If I were to support myself with my liver on the ground due to hunger. And I put a stone on my stomach because of hunger. One day I sat on the road they were taking, and Abu Bakr passed by me, and I asked him about a verse from the Book of God. By God, I only asked him to follow me, but he passed by and did not do so. Then Omar passed by me and I asked him about a verse from the Book of God. What should I ask him? Unless he wanted to follow me, so he passed by and did not do so. Then Abu Al-Qasim, may God bless him and grant him peace, passed by me and smiled when he saw me and said, “Abu Hurairah.” I said, “O my father.” Messenger of God. He said, “The truth.” He went on, so I followed him. He entered his house. I asked for permission, and he gave me permission. He found a cup of milk. He said, “Where did you get this milk?” It was said, “So-and-so gave it to us as a gift.” Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Abu Hurairah.” I said, Here you go. He said, “Go to the people of Suffah, so invite them.” They are the guests of the people of Islam. They do not provide accommodation for family or property. She came to him It is charity that he sent to them and did not take any of it. And when a gift came to him, he sent it to them and took some of it and shared it with them, so he treated me well. That and I said, “What is this mug among the people of Suffah, and I am his messenger to them? He will command me to turn it on them, so what might happen to me?” And I was hoping that I would get something from him that would enrich me, and there was no need to obey God and obey His Messenger, so I came to them and called them, so when They entered upon him and took their seats, and he said, “Abu Hurairah, take the cup and give it to them.” So I took the cup and began to give it to the man. He would drink until it was quenched, then he would return it and I would hand it to the other until I brought it to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and all the people had narrated it, so the Messenger took it. God, may God bless him and grant him peace, took the cup and placed it on his hands, then raised his head and smiled and said, “Abu Hurairah, drink.” So I drank. Then he said, “Drink.” And I kept drinking and he said, “Drink.” Until I said, “By the One who has sent you with the truth, I will not find a way for him.” So he took the cup, thanked God, said the supplication, then drank. Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith.
