Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #46664

On the authority of Uqba bin Amer, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, went out to the dead of Uhud and prayed over them after eight years like a farewell to the living and the dead. Then he went up to the pulpit and said: I am in your hands and I am a witness over you, and your appointment is the Basin, and I look at it from this position of mine, and I am not afraid that you will associate others with the world, but I fear that you will compete with this world. To the Messenger of God May God’s prayers and peace be upon him. ((Agreed upon)). And in a narration: “But I fear for you in this world that you will compete in it and fight and be destroyed just as those who came before you perished.” Uqba said: The last thing I saw of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was on the pulpit. In a narration, he said: “I am a witness to you and I am a witness over you.
