Qutaibah narrated to us, Hammad bin Zaid narrated to us, on the authority of Sinan bin Rabi’ah, on the authority of Shahr bin Hawshab, on the authority of Abu Umamah, he said: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, performed ablution He greeted him, washed his face three times, and his hands three times, and wiped his head, and said, “The ears are from the head.” Abu Issa said, Qutaibah said. Hammad said: I do not know if this is from the saying of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, or from the saying of Abu Umamah. He said, and in the chapter on the authority of Anas. Abu Issa said this. It is a hasan hadith whose chain of transmission is not based on that existing one. This is acted upon according to most of the people of knowledge among the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and those who After them, the ears are from the head. This is what Sufyan Al-Thawri, Ibn Al-Mubarak, Al-Shafi’i, Ahmad, and Ishaq said. Some said People of knowledge: What is in front of the ears is in the face, and what is in the back is in the head. Ishaq said, and he chose to wipe the front of them with The face and the back of them, along with his head. Al-Shafi’i said that they are Sunnah in their entirety. He wipes them with fresh water.
