Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27189

Bishr ibn Adam ibn bint Azhar al-Samman al-Basri narrated to us, Ismail ibn Sa`id ibn Ubayd Allah narrated to us, my father narrated to us, on the authority of Ziyad ibn Jubayr bin Hayya, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Al-Mughirah bin Shu’bah, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “The rider behind the funeral procession and the walker Wherever he wishes from it, and the child is prayed over.” Abu Issa said: This is a hasan and authentic hadith narrated by Israel and more than one person on the authority of Sa’id bin Ubayd Allah. And it is acted upon according to some of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and others. They said that the funeral prayer should be performed over the child, even if He did not begin after he knew that he was created. This is the saying of Ahmad and Ishaq.
